Osaka is often called Japan’s kitchen, and after spending time exploring its food scene, it is easy to understand why. From traditional sushi and premium wagyu to elegant afternoon tea, here are my top five places to eat in Osaka.
1. Sakimoto Cafe

A perfect breakfast spot, especially for lovers of Japanese toast and milk butter. Be prepared for a long waiting line. I recommend putting your name on the list first and exploring the surrounding area while you wait.
They are famous for their thick, fluffy Japanese toast served with exclusive jams and milk butter. The milk butter was my personal favorite. I also highly recommend the egg sandwich, which was exceptionally delicious. Guests can purchase the jams and milk butter pots to take home, making it a lovely food souvenir.

2. Wagyu Yakiniku Gin Namba

This restaurant offers a more intimate dining experience. We reserved a private room and cooked our own yakiniku at the table.
The variety of meats was impressive. We selected wagyu and Kobe beef, and both were incredibly tender and flavorful. The quality of the meat truly stood out, making this one of the highlights of our dining experiences in Osaka.

3. Kani Doraku Dotonbori

A well-known destination for crab lovers, this restaurant specializes in fresh crab dishes.
We tried the crab roll sushi, crab cake, and boiled crab legs. Everything was extremely fresh and beautifully prepared. I paired the meal with sake, which complemented the flavors perfectly. If you enjoy seafood, this is an essential stop in Osaka.

4. Ganko Namba

This restaurant offers a wide variety of traditional Japanese dishes and is also family-friendly, with a dedicated kids’ menu.
They serve sushi, hot pot, and many other classic options. The tuna sushi was exceptional — easily one of the best we had during our stay in Osaka. It is a reliable choice for groups looking for variety and quality.

5. The Lounge - Swissotel Nankai Osaka

To finalize our top five places in Osaka, I chose something different: afternoon tea.
Located inside Swissotel Nankai Osaka, The Lounge offers an elegant afternoon tea experience. During our visit, the theme was strawberry, with both sweet and savory items incorporating this flavor. I was pleasantly surprised by the sandwiches, which were particularly delicious, as well as the panna cotta. For those who appreciate afternoon tea, this is a refined and memorable experience.

For anyone traveling to Osaka, these dining spots provide a well-rounded way to experience the city’s celebrated food culture
